The Pharmacy Department is a comprehensive pharmaceutical technical service department that integrates medicine management, rational medicine use,  preparation production and development, teaching, and research. We have developed 124 formulations of 16 types in our hospital, established the first national hospital Chinese traditional medicine decoction pieces traceability management system, launched multidisciplinary physician-pharmacist joint clinics and pharmaceutical clinics, and enhanced public awareness of rational drug use.

The Pharmacy Department undertakes a total of 33 projects at various levels. It has published more than 140 academic papers, obtained 4 authorized patents and written 6 monographs. Currently, there are 146 staff members, including 9 backbone talents recognized by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 4 talents in the identification and processing of traditional Chinese medicines in Tianjin, 1 talent in the third level of the Tianjin "131" innovative talent training project, 13 clinical pharmacists certified by the National Hospital Pharmacist Association, and 3 supervisors for master's students.

Development and Production of Pharmaceutical Preparations

There are currently 124 pharmaceutical preparations, covering 16 dosage forms such as pills, tablets, granules, and oral liquids. These preparations are widely used in the treatment of cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine, antiviral, and pediatric diseases, among others, with proven efficacy and high patient recognition.The Pharmacy Department regularly collects distinctive and clinically effective TCM prescriptions, conducts evidence-based evaluations, and carries out hospital preparation research to promote the development of new TCM drugs and industrial innovation. This ensures the sustainable advancement of our hospital's pharmaceutical preparations. 

Comprehensive Pharmaceutical Services

Adhering to the service philosophy of "patient-centered," the department has innovated its pharmaceutical service models and launched various types of pharmaceutical clinics to provide professional pharmaceutical services for patients. It has established multidisciplinary clinics such as the Wound and Peripheral Vascular Surgery Physician-Pharmacist Joint Anticoagulation Clinic, the PCCM Cough and Wheeze Pharmaceutical Service Clinic, the Acupuncture Physician-Pharmacist Joint Clinic, the Hypertension Specialist Physician-Pharmacist Joint Clinic, the Pediatric Physician-Pharmacist Joint Clinic, and the Comprehensive Pharmaceutical Clinic. Among them, the PCCM Cough and Wheeze Pharmaceutical Service Clinic is the first standardized clinic in Tianjin's traditional Chinese medicine hospitals to obtain national certification. Since its opening in October 2023, the pharmaceutical clinics have provided multidisciplinary and integrated pharmaceutical services for the entire outpatient department, offering both general consultations for common issues and specialized consultations for specific diseases. The department has also strengthened collaboration with other departments, actively practiced patient-centered team-based medical care, and provided therapeutic drug monitoring and pharmaceutical consultations for patients and medical professionals, offering professional advice and suggestions to ensure public medication safety and promote the healthy development of the pharmaceutical industry.

With strong professional capabilities and advanced service concepts, the pharmacy department has made significant progress in areas such as traditional Chinese medicine characteristic services, development and production of distinctive hospital preparations, and comprehensive pharmaceutical services. In the future, the department will continue to keep pace with the times, constantly innovate service models and technical means, and safeguard public health.
