Department Introduction The Medical Imaging Department is a comprehensive platform integrating medical services, education, and research, staffed by over 70 professional technicians. Equipped with advanced imaging equipment and fully utilizing PACS and AI systems, the department enhances diagnostic precision. Routine diagnostic services cover imaging examinations and interpretations across all systems, with specialized techniques such as one-stop cardio-cerebral CTA and cardiac MRI. The department promotes multidisciplinary collaboration (MDT) and offers precision diagnostic procedures including minimally invasive tumor interventions and hysterosalpingography under X-ray guidance. Under the leadership of Director Liu Jihua, the team has undertaken multiple research projects and published several SCI-indexed papers. Emphasizing multidisciplinary cooperation and translational research, the department is committed to developing a leading national center for imaging diagnosis and treatment. Introduction to the Department of Medical Imaging The Department of Medical Imaging is a comprehensive platform integrating clinical services, teaching, and research, established in 1954. The department has a strong and technically proficient team of over 70 high-quality professionals, organized into diagnostic, technical, and nursing groups. Among them are 15 senior-level staff, 6 with doctoral degrees, 30 with master’s degrees, and 2 master’s supervisors. The department adheres to the core principles of “patient-centered care and quality-focused service.” In recent years, the annual volume of patient examinations has continued to grow, now exceeding 500,000 cases per year, leading the field in Tianjin. The department operates across both the Nankai and Xiqing campuses and is equipped with a wide range of advanced imaging equipment, including three 3.0T MRI scanners, six high-end multi-slice CT scanners, digital DR systems, fluoroscopic gastrointestinal X-ray machines, full-digital mammography units, bone densitometers, and dental CTs. Among them is the ultra-high-end GE Revolution Apex CT scanner, one of the most advanced systems globally. The department has fully implemented PACS for standardized workflow management and introduced AI systems based on medical imaging to further improve efficiency, standardize reporting, and enhance diagnostic accuracy. Routine clinical services cover imaging of the head and neck, thoracoabdominal regions, genitourinary system, musculoskeletal system, and vascular structures (CTA and MRA), as well as breast imaging. Advanced diagnostic technologies include “one-stop cardio-cerebral CTA,” “one-stop combined cardio-cerebral-thoracoabdominal CTA,” cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR), and functional brain MRI, which allow for rapid and precise vascular assessment and non-invasive evaluation of myocardial function. The department adopts a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach, working with the Oncology Department and Reproductive Center to provide precision, patient-centered care through techniques such as CT-guided minimally invasive tumor interventions and X-ray-guided hysterosalpingography. These services support both clinical care and high-quality medical research. Led by Director Liu Jihua, the department team has undertaken numerous research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Tianjin Municipal Health Commission, and Tianjin Municipal Education Commission. Over the past five years, the team has published more than 30 SCI-indexed papers in leading journals such as Radiology, European Radiology, and Chinese Journal of Radiology. Department members also serve as peer reviewers for the National Natural Science Foundation, editorial board members for core Chinese journals, and reviewers for multiple SCI-indexed journals. Currently, the department has 29 clinical teaching faculty members. It undertakes teaching responsibilities for undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as clinical internships for graduate students, residents, and visiting scholars. It serves as a master’s degree training site for the Clinical Integrative Medicine and Medical Imaging Technology programs at Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, training multiple graduate students annually. The department emphasizes the integration of clinical practice and research, fostering students with strong practical abilities and outstanding academic performance. Faculty members have received numerous honors, including awards for excellence in teaching, the Moral Education Award, and recognition as outstanding educators and administrative staff at Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Looking ahead, the Department of Medical Imaging will continue its tradition of excellence, strive for innovation, enhance image quality and diagnostic accuracy, strengthen teaching and research infrastructure, and increase academic impact, with the goal of becoming a leading national center for integrated medical imaging diagnosis and treatment. ![]() ![]() |
