Gastroenterology department was established in 1989. The department has formed a strong discipline of traditional Chinese medicine spleen and stomach diseases with the support of “outpatient clinic, ward and endoscopy center”. There are 48 beds, with 125,000 outpatients each year. More than 2,400 patients are discharged annually, over 15,000 gastrointestinal endoscopy examinations are completed annually, and over 1200 endoscopic surgeries are completed each year. There are 24 doctors, including six master’s supervisors and one national outstanding clinical talent in traditional Chinese medicine. In recent years, the department has completed 10 national key research and development projects, won two science and technology awards from the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine, and obtained one invention patent.
